Hybrid Learning

This is a new but major MICDL project that is currently focused on developing close partnerships with a small number of schools to help these schools become “beacon” blended or hybrid learning schools. Blended or hybrid learning is commonly defined as a combination of face-to-face and online learning, but this project promotes a particular model of blended or hybrid learning that adds “student-centered, project-biased, and proficiency-based” to that definition. As a result, this model is very similar to the model of “mass customized learning” that is being developed in many Maine schools and districts, particularly those in the Maine Cohort for Customized Learning (MCCL). The current plan is for MICDL to provide support to administrators and teachers in a small number of schools around an action plan and a data plan that would significantly deepen the school’s efforts toward this model of hybrid customized learning.
